Will of Jonathan Wilson
Will Book #3, page 260, Sumner County, TN:
I, Jonathan Wilson of the State of Tennessee, and County of Sumner, being weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, and calling unto the mortality of my body, and that it is appointed for all men to once die; do make and ordain this my last will and testament, and touching such worldly estate as herewith has pleased God to help me in this life. First, I give to my daughter Tarissa Wilson, one hundred and fifty acres of land, lying on Duck River, lying and being in the County of Marshall, in the said State. Also, I give one hundred dollars, in money, and black woman, Maria, also my grey mare, together with such husehold and kitchen furniture she may wish to obtain. I also will that my plantation, on which I now live, shall be sold by my executors, either privately or publicly, as they may think most advantageous for my heirs, also my stock, of every description, together with what grain may be on my plantation, and all my farming utensil. My will is that the proceeds, answering from the sale of the above named property be equally divided among my children, now living, and my deceased son Hiram Wilson's widow and children, Marquis D. Wilson, Addison Wilson, William Wilson, Eliza Wilson and the children of Hiram Wilson, deceased. I also will what ever furniture may be left, after my daughter Terrissa Wilson has made her selections, with my books, be equally divided among my legatees. I do constitute, make and ordain John Gourly and Joseph Wallace the sole executors, of this my last will and testament, in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand, and affix my seal, this seventh day of June, Eighteen Hundred and Fifty Four (1854).
