From the book, Edward Lovitt, Whitley County, Kentucky, His Descendants and
Allied Families compiled by Dorothie Boyer Lovett, 1982
COURTNEY CREEKMORE was affiliated with the Baptist Church as is documented in
the following from original records.
CHURCH BOOK OF JELLICO CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH:

COURTNEY LOVITT paid taxes after her husband's (EDOM LOVITT) death from
1844-1852, but not again until 1859. During this seven year interim, Courtney is
thought to have been visiting in Iowa where several of her sons were living.

The 1860 Whitley County Census lists COURTNEY LOVITT with her second husband,
JOHNATHAN LOVITT, who is a brother of her deceased husband, Edom. We know by
deed records that Jonathan Lovitt is still living until 1868 but only Courtney's
name appears on the tax rolls from 1866 on.
